Our vision is to create a community of hope where all children feel safe, believed, and nurtured.

This vision can only be achieved by going beyond responding to child abuse and working towards preventing it. The Building Brighter Futures program at the CYAC is designed to further educate those who are impacted by the work we do, as well as those who provide services to children. One day at a time, through providing resources that target the community’s needs, we can all take steps towards disrupting the cycle and ending abuse.

The Building Brighter Futures Program has three principal priorities:

  • Catalyze a dialogue in the general community around signs of abuse and the responsibility of every citizen.

  • Provide evidence-based content and education to social service agencies, front line professionals and organizations that work directly with vulnerable children.

  • Enhance the knowledge of caring adults in the community to ensure trauma informed care is provided to those in need.

The ultimate goal of any Child & Youth Advocacy Centre is to create a community where a CAC is no longer a necessity, a community without child abuse or neglect.

To achieve this outcome, we must go beyond responding to child abuse and work to create a community wherein the public is educated, informed and has the confidence and resources to alert the proper authorities immediately or before abuse occurs. By participating in this programming you are taking a step towards that outcome.
